Bees flying around Blue camas

Camas is a local plant native to the Williamette Valley. Natives would dig them up and roast the big bulbs which produce these beautiful flowers. Bees love them as you can see. There is also a white Camas, also known as ‘death Camas’. No doubt because of the extremely toxic nature of the white variety.

Learned that when I first moved to Oregon and volunteered at the Mount Pisgah Arboretum. Awesome place that folks should check out when in Lane County, OR. http://www.mountpisgaharboretum.com
